R A Butler have been fortunate beneficiaries of Stansted Airport’s Aerozone, an on-site educational centre that also does outreach work with local schools. The girls in Year 5 had a half day workshop at school hosted by pilots, groundcrew and engineers, the aim of which was to encourage girls to consider a future career in aviation. There was hands on fun when the girls created their own rockets for launch, whilst having to keep their precious egg cargo intact!
The children in Reception recently visited Aerozone, where they learnt about the history of the airport and the people who work there. They tried on uniforms, tested out the aeroplane seats and explored an airport ranger vehicle. The highlight of the morning was standing on the viewing platform watching aeroplanes land and take off.
“We would like to thank all the Aerozone staff for their creative, engaging workshops. All the children were buzzing with excitement following their airport experiences – we are very fortunate to have access to such an inspiring resource”, said Mrs Johnson, Acting Headteacher.
