Abbie, Ben, Craig and Charlie were among 10 students from Stewards Academy in Harlow who enjoyed a week long work experience placement at the airport during May 2016.
Some of our Work Experience students met up with Strictly Come Dancing star Anton du Beke and our Education Co-ordinator, Joanne Davies at one of the on-airport events.
Work Experience in Stansted
Monday 9th November to Friday 13th November
For a week during November I completed my work experience with Stansted Airport’s Education Co-ordinator Jo Davies.
I felt so welcomed by everyone, the week was fun and very interesting – I did not know they have so many jobs at the Airport.
During the week I got to go airside with a Ranger and we carried out a runway inspection. I worked landside and airside, had a tour of the terminal and ‘tweeted‘ some tweets.
For two days I worked alongside Jo in the ‘Aerozone’. I helped out with students and visited the viewing platform. This was probably the best bit of my whole experience.
I learnt a lot during my week at Stansted Airport. I realised the importance of speaking clearly and having the right dress code. It was a boost to my confidence. More importantly I now understand it’s very important to smile and say ‘good morning’ or ‘hello’ as it makes everyone feel better and gets you along way.
Neve Price, Year 11 student from Forest Hall School, Stansted Mountfitchet.
Five students from Forest Hall School in Stansted Mountfichet spent a week experiencing working life at Stansted Airport as part of an education initiative set up by the airport.
The year eleven students enjoyed a behind the scenes look at some of the most exciting careers Stansted Airport has to offer including airfield operations, engineering, health and safety, passenger services and retail.
