Stansted Airport staff showed community at its best when they volunteered their help to construct winter shelters at a local animal rescue and rehabilitation centre.
Marcella M’Rabety, Stansted Airport’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, said:
“As a responsible and growing business, Stansted Airport is encouraging employee volunteering, to give something back to the community around Stansted.”
Alison Thomson, Volunteer Coordinator at Daisy May’s Farm, described the importance of the volunteer support:
“We have been fundraising for 6 months to purchase these shelters and their construction is the most important thing on the Farm at this time. The work completed by the airport staff has been invaluable in providing much needed protection for our rescue horses this winter and we are very grateful for their efforts today.”
Daisy May’s Farm offers much more than just a sanctuary for animals, it serves the community by bringing together volunteers of all ages and backgrounds as well as having its doors open to centres in the local community that help disadvantaged children and those with special needs.
