The volunteers, who came from Stansted Airport and Carver Barracks, decorated Support4Sight’s George Street building under the guidance of professional painter Barry McCarthy, who also gave his time free of charge.
The project was made possible by Time Bank, which is a register of people who are willing to give their time as and when it is needed, and is run by Volunteer Uttlesford.
Geoff Norton, Emma Bishop, Luke Durstan, Sinead Linnane and Darren Johnson from Stansted Airport’s Volunteering Scheme were joined by soldiers Kieran Hutchings and Stefan Osborne from Carver Barracks.
Natalie Emuss, from Support4Sight, said:
“We have been overwhelmed by the support of Volunteer Uttlesford. The team of volunteers have been fantastic in making our building look brand new.”
